What is MERV?

MERV stands for Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value. The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) assigns a MERV number intended to help people compare filters. The MERV efficiency rating is the filters ability to capture specific micron sized particles. A higher MERV rating indicates a better performing filter.
